Kenya Kajumoini

Kenya

Region: Nyeri
Altitude: 1,650-1,800 MASL
Variety: SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 & Batian
Process: Washed
Grade: AA

Producers: Smallholder members of the Mugaga Farmers' Cooperative Society

Grown on the fertile slopes of Nyeri County in Kenya's Central Region, this coffee benefits from cool temperatures and seasonal rains that slow cherry maturation and build dense, structured beans. The result is a cup that's bright, clean, and beautifully defined.

This lot comes from Kagumoini Factory, established in 1993 near the town of Karatina and one of five washing stations run by the Mugaga cooperative. Smallholders, most farming around 200 trees each, hand-pick and deliver their cherry to the factory. There it is fermented, washed with water from the nearby Ruiru River, and dried on raised beds.

In the cup, expect juicy grapefruit up front, rounded caramel sweetness through the middle, and a delicate green tea finish. A lively, refined coffee that rewards a slow brew.

Flavor Notes: Grapefruit, Caramel, Green Tea
